[Just a overview of the last session for posterity. Please add or edit if I got something wrong.]
Our adventurers, sad over the sudden death of their good, well, kind of good — actually, he wasn’t very good most of the time — their friend, Herman. After posting flyers across Durk about a memorial service (the funeral was canceled as Herman’s body was being eaten by giant spiders the last time Calrissian saw him), only three friends showed up at the Festering Testicle to mourn his loss — Krobb Sunkeeper (nĂ© Krobbson), half-orc and one of the clerics in service of Pelor, living in Pelor Abbey; Myrtha Blythe, half-elf sorceress who gets by as a barmaid at the Festicle; and Calrissian, perpetual drunk, formerly blackout drunk, whose first lucid thought in over twenty years was watching an ogre swing a tree trunk into Herman’s face in the depths of the Lyron Forest.
As they drown their sorrows with ale, suddenly in the distance, an explosion! Krobb rushes off to find out what is happening, while Myrtha has to practically drag Calrissian out of the tavern. When they arrive, a chunk of Durk Keep has collapsed, seemingly exploded from the inside out. As Krobb approaches, he hears the screams of survivors, and watches as a thick plume of smoke rises from the study. Then, arrows fly out from the darkened interior of the keep, and Krobb notices skeletons inside! He readies his Greater Turn Undead and banishes a handful of the skeletons from existence, heals a few survivors near him, grabs a dagger, and rushes in.
Meanwhile, Myrtha and Calrissian arrive. Calrissian downs his entire flask in an attempt to bolster himself — and promptly blacks out. When he wakes, he is standing in the basement, below the burning room, where two survivors are screaming. He throws his grappling hook up and tries to get the survivors to wrap it around something, but the first one, dizzy from smoke inhalation, slips and falls from the room down onto the basement floor. As this happens, he notices that he is standing in a guard barracks, and skeletons are coming at him from inside! The survivor above him passes out, and skeletons are attacking him, so he does the first thing that comes to mind: he pulls the chair the grappling hook is attached to from the floor above, taking the survivor with him [this happened, right? the survivor came with?], dropping them right on the skeletons. The chair crushes one of them, and Cal easily takes care of the other. The survivors help each other escape the chaos.
Krobb finds himself dealing with more than just skeletons: a krenshar, an ugly cat/hyena looking thing, comes leaping at him. The krenshar has a collar tight around its neck, with a glowing red stone set in it. Myrtha has seen this type of collar before — it controls whatever creature it’s wrapped around. The stone itself can be magically charged with different emotional essences. This krenshar’s stone is red, meaning it’s angry. Krobb manages to wrangle the beast while Myrtha changes the stone to a much more pleasing blue — passive. They end up taking the collar off anyway, and Myrtha uses her incredibly animal whispering skills to tame it. Krobb names the beast Freckles.
However, just as they tame the beast, the skeletons Krobb Fear’d away return to their senses and start coming back. Our heroes are beyond injured, and more skeleton attacks just won’t cut it! Fortunately, Worrik, Krobb’s cleric buddy, enters, and eradicates them with his own Greater Turn Undead spell. Worrik heals the group and then they descend into the basement.
[OKAY, going to update this more later, or you can if you want. OP won’t let me save the draft. I guess I could just C&P it into a notepad document, but NOT GONNA]
