Falgren Knowledge
This page will contain a summary of key facts, historical information or other useful tidbits your character knows. We’ll also add links to other parts of the portal as I format this page.
You know the general make up of the fleet of Gurchok to be around 100 ships of various hull types. 10 Man O War class (now 9 with the loss of Gorgon). There are around 50 Frigates, the primary warship of the fleet. The rest are divided between Corvettes, Galleons and Light Galleons. There are other ships present, not attached to the fleet belonging to private merchants and traders.
You know that Gurchok is a city of twenty thousand or more dragonborn, and a roughly equal amount of human slaves. About fifteen thousand dragonborn make up the crews of the fleet. The slaves live in there own quarter of the city and are allowed freedom of movement within their own areas. They are treated more like servants than slaves in that there is not the kind of abuse you might associate with slavery…the humans, after all, pledged their service to the dragonborn hundreds of years ago. It is bred into their identity that they are servants and they serve willingly…even loyally in some cases.
You know a bit about the political make up of the city. The governor is a particularly vicious beast named Verchisk. She has a reputation for creulty and ruthlessness, though she has been effective as a governor. You know that her chief rival is the black scaled overseer of the order of the black dragon, Chugon Darkwing. It is common knowledge that they despise each other and they actively vie for power among the citizenry. Verchisk, largely controls the fleet, while Chugon has much influence in the city security forces. They are both well connected within the various trading factions that have representation.
You also know a little of what lies beyond the valley. The world is pretty much dominated by the flying cities of the dragonborn. Their ships criss-cross the skies, in pretty much established trade routes between the cities. There are vast areas where skyships do not fly, but you know few details. You only know vague rumors picked up from conversation with the dragonborn crew of Firedrake. These areas are controlled by pirates, or the sites of strange disappearances or the domain of powerful creatures…things like that.
You have never been to the surface, living the entirety of your life on Gurchok, or aboard Firedrake. Again, you know that the surface is a wild place dominated by humanoid races and wild creatures. You have flown across wide areas and seen that the landscape is dotted with the ruins of the old civilization…great cities…towns…castles…solitary towers…etc. You have only visited three other flying cities (details later) and then only in the company of captain Shartak.
You have heard stories about pockets of resistance to the influence of the empire, but you have no details really. You find it hard to imagine where there may be many allies to be found outside the valley.
