Falgren's Bio
Falgren was born to human parents in the service of the dragonborn on the floating city of Gurchok. His mother Dohera and his father Laherin both served, in various capacities, with the cities naval forces.
Humans in Gurchok are servants. An outsider might call them slaves, but humanity gave itself into servitude to the dragonborn empire willingly. 800 years ago the vile race known as elves, in their quest to dominate life on this world, caused devastation on a massive scale. Their evil magic ripped the world asunder and sent much of the southern hemisphere hurtling into space. This should have ended the world entirely, except for the power of the dragonborn and their goddess.
Through the power of the goddess (whose name is not revealed to humanity) the dragonborn preserved the planet, holding the remaining portions together and allowing life to continue. They then descended to the planet, arriving in an armada of thousands of flying fortresses and cities. Were it not for the dragonborn, the elves would have been able to easily destroy the tattered remains of human civilization. The dragonborn rescued humanity and defeated the elven nations. In return, the great leaders of the human world pledged their service and loyalty to the dragonborn empire. This is the history of the world as Falgren has been taught.
Growing up, Falgren quickly proved himself to agile and quick to learn. Like his father before him, he was chosen for naval service after his initial schooling. Human children are removed from their parental care at the age of 5 and housed in special schools until they turn 12. They are first taught the history of their people and their special relationship with the dragonborn. They are then put through a variety of tests to judge their abilities and potential. Once vetted, each child is assigned to a secondary school where they will learn a more specific area of training. The schools ranged from domestic training for household servants, to professional training for the wide range jobs that the dragonborn are above doing themselves. The best and the brightest, however, are chosen to serve in the navy.
After his 7 years of schooling, Falgren was assign to his duty under a legendary captain called Shartak. Being the most senior and experienced captain among the dragonborn, Shartak was always given the first choice of human trainees. He was known to be extremely selective and had gone entire cycles without selecting a single new recruit. In Falgren’s cycle, Shartak chose 2: Falgren and a girl named Cherta. That was 10 years ago.
