War of the Burning Sky 4e

Time: 1:30 into the New Year

You finally arrive at the depository tower. The great 4 floor tower stands 80 feet above the streets, and is contained in its own 120 ft. × 120 ft. enclosure. Four guards stand outside the main gate, well armed and armoured. They are a bit tense until Torrent hands over the entry key. Once you are inside the iron walls of the compound, the noise and dangers of the outside seem far away. The entry to the tower itself is guarded by a dwarf and an orc guard, armed and armoured like those on the outside. As before, the dwarf takes the key and unlocks the door with the key and a secret phrase. He warns you that there are guards on the inside as well.
Upon entry, you barely get a chance to look around when the ugliest gnome you have ever met starts down the stairs toward you. He appears hunched over and coughing into a dirty cloth. He greets you says “Come with me Peppin”, assuming one of your party is his contact.

You follow him up the stairs, and he goes to a locker and turns to the party once more. “Please enter the password Peppin.” He coughs. Torrent then explains that Peppin is no longer with them, that he was killed, and that she is the new contact. Before she gets a chance to explain that she knew nothing of a password, Badgerface straightens seeming to become nearly a foot and a half taller, and makes an incredible leap onto the stairs going up to the next level.

You quickly follow and are intercepted on the third floor by a 4’ ball of light. The ball of light whips K’tok with a fire-whip, and you all quickly move to attack. Alara follows the former Rivereye Badgerface outside, just in time to see him leap over the railing and grab one of the banners, attempting to use it to swing out past the gate.

With one of her powers, she is able to pull him, throwing him off balance, and he plunges nearly 60 feet to the ground below. He lands fairly well, but does injure his leg severely, causing him to fall to the ground. While the others battle the orb, Alara and Azarial blast the fallen Half-elf with fire, while the guards rush to arrive. Just as they are arriving, the orb teleports outside, and in a blazing glory attacks the orc guard that is rushing in. It teleports out beyond the walls before the Orc recovers enough to do any serious damage. From there you can see it flying and teleporting down the streets out of sight.
