The Order: What Is and What Should Never Be

With the growing size of our group we need to address the slowness of 7th Sea’s combat system. To that end we’ll be applying the following formula in any combat encounter involving more then three PCs:

  • Roll for initiative is the same, but everyone gets a single action every round. The initiative total determines when you act in each round.
  • Panache is now used in three different ways, depending on the type of enemy the character is facing:
    • Brute Squads: Panache grants free raises against all Brute Squads. A character with two Panache will kill three Brutes on every successful attack.
    • Henchmen: Panache allows a single attack to deal damage to multiple Henchmen equal to the character’s Panache score. A character makes a single attack and damage roll and applies it across to a number of Henchmen equal to the character’s Panache score. The attack is compared against each Henchmen individually based off the single roll. A character with two Panache has a chance to damage two Henchmen every round.
    • Villains: Panache is how many re-rolls a character gets against a Villain every round. Re-rolls can be used on either attack, damage, or special maneuvers. A character with two Panache can re-roll twice every round against Villains.
  • Wits & Active Defense are changing as well… to be determined.
  • Finesse, Brawn, and Resolve do not change.
