The World Beyond: al-Jazira Sadim

Character Creation in the World Beyond employs a six step version of the optional setting-based approach described in the MULRAH base rules.

  1. Stats: Roll up Stats.
  2. Background: The GM will describe the World Beyond as a setting. Based on this and the information in MULRAH’s Fantasy Module 1, pick a Race, Religion, Nationality, and Name. The GM may allow additional choices for Race, Religion, and Nationality. Place a marker representing your character on the map of Ytarria where he was for the first half of his life.
  3. Campaign Style: As a group, decide the type of campaign you want to play, which will determine the starting point for the party at the culmination of the character creation process.
  4. Early Years: After the GM describes your chosen starting location, share what your Character did in the first half of his life. Select two of the following traits and define them for your Character based on his actions during this period: 2 Abilities, 1 Skill, 2 Keys, or 1 Aspect (see examples).
  5. Recent History: The GM will describe recent History, and again you will relay your Character’s actions and pick another two traits. This time, involve the Character of the player to your right in your story.
  6. Campaign Lead-In: The GM will describe some of the adventuring possibilities in your current locale. Describe what your Character has been doing, pick your last two traits, and explain how and why your Character has ended up in the location where the entire party meets to begin the campaign.
