Fresh off the Boat
I was hoping this forum could be used to post what the rules are going to be for bringing in a new character. That way we all have something to reference if our character were to meet a grim fate (or retire to a condo down in Florida).
Things needed to be addressed:
- Any Level Penalties
- Possible Write-outs
- Loot Pertaining to Fallen Comrades
- Restricted Creature PC
I’m cool with whatever is decided. I’d just like to have it down in writing so I’m not caught off guard later.
P.S. Willow says,

SO everyone can post their opionoins about this. I am still open as to this, but one thing is for sure…I’m kinda over the ‘write-outs’ Just due to story line, it’s hard enough when tragedy strikes with bad luck in rolling and you lose a PC.
So here is what I’ve been thinking:
First guy you make up – you get the 2d6+10 for abilities
Everyone gets one write out – with the 2d6+10 abilities
If after that death occurs you get to bring in guy one level lower, but with normal 4d6 drop lowest type creation.
New PC follow the WBL guidelines for how much they can spend on item groups and ect.. And this is wealth. If you pick up a bunch of crafting feats to get things at half price, you won’t be getting twice the gear as the other players. Wealth is based on the market value of the item, not the cost you paid to make it.
I also don’t allow custom items,…ie Alex items, so no headband of intellect that requires ten ranks in knowledge arcana, a good alignment, and race elf in order to use. In those cases – those actually cost more. lol
That all sounds pretty good. My only concern is with the 4d6 upon future deaths. I understand you want to keep people from trying to kill off their own guy every time their bored with him, but the 4d6 along with the level drop seems a bit harsh. I think the level drop and one write-out is sufficient enough. Otherwise there might be a person or two who we’re unfortunate enough to be insta-killed more than once and now are really screwed. That’s just kinda my feelings on it.
