Who fired first doesn’t matter anymore. The names of the governments and countries involved have faded from recent memory, and only those fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to survive the devestation can recall the world before the Final War. It didn’t go down quite as they had believed it would; pockets of humanity continued to survive, and some even thrived, after the apocalypse.

This story takes place in Southern California, around the township of New Hope, an oasis of law and civilization in the lawless and savage wastelands of the West. Here, Mayor Grayson and his good friend Sheriff Black have established a safe town, with a hospital, school, and police department. But everything is not as it seems in this haven…
