The smith named Oldred Baer was well-known in Middenheim. His weapons were forged of the highest-quality materials, created to his exacting specifications, and commanded a great price among his customers. Baer was a warrior as well, having served in the Imperial Army as a sergeant. When the siege at Middenheim began, he gave up his smith’s apron to serve again. This blade was the last he would forge and bear in battle.
When the Champion of Khorne Elmeric, a former soldier of the Empire riddled with corruption, took up the field of battle and most who faced him fled, it was Baer and a few of his closest companions who stepped before the foul Chaos knight to stop his rampage. As his companions fell around him to Elmeric’s might, Baer struck the telling blow that would weaken the Chaos knight. Baer was mortally wounded, however.
Baer passed on the blade to a young man he had befriended during the siege, who took it home with him when the Storm of Chaos had passed.
