As a child, Annika Volkova had two brothers a few years older than her. They were talented warriors and taught her the basics of combat. Her mother tried to get them to leave her be so she could practice her magic. Annika was a natural born magic user. Her talents blooming to life one day when she accidentally electrocuted her grandfather’s Aoskan hound during her eleventh birthday.
When she was 14 she lost both brothers at once when they were captured by the Harmonium and sentenced to death. The vagueness of the charges has been a source of boiling anger in her ever since. She has vowed that one day she will find the Hardheads responsible and make them pay.
When she was old enough she left Ribcage and traveled to Baator (devils, hell), signing up for conflicts in Avernus, the first layer. She honed her skills while trying to stay alive on the Blood War battlefields.
During one of the battles she fell victim to Tanaarri (demon, abyss) magic that left her imprisoned in a magical Tanaarri prison. There she was tortured for over a decade before her cousion Theridon found her and helped her break free. During her escape she took the time to flay her former capture alive and later fashioned a coat from his hide. At this point she was done with the Blood War. Having spent over ten years watching it she was disgusted with both varieties of fiends.
Of course, being fiend blooded Theridon had a few strictures on her release.
Physical Appearance/Mannerisms: Annika has long, fire red hair which she keeps back behind her large horns. Her skin is alabaster and her pallor is slightly peeked from years in prison. She keeps her sword strapped behind her back, drawing it out from behind her thick, black demon hide long coat. Slightly unhinged, she tries to hide this fact but constantly hears and sees her dead brothers, goading her into killing sprees.
She has an unnatural hatred for demons. She tolerates them in public but will go into a rage at the tiniest slight from one. She is vengeful and her time in jail has made her calculated. She believes that the Blood War can only be won by the total extinction of the demon race and intends to make that happen, one demon at a time.
Calls her sword “the Captain”, or “Jack” when she is feeling intimate.
