Bio
Erdan and Bruno grew up in a Fomorian village in a very close nit family. Bruno was the younger brother by six years. The brothers had a human great-grandfather. The stories say that he was a bard or historian of some sort and came to the village to learn of Fomorian culture. Unfortunately for him, great-grandmother took a liking to his baby-face and he was inducted into the clan…
The brothers grew up with a fairly easy life. Their uncle was a very influential Elder on the council and had a son, Mord, about the same age as Erdan. Bruno idolized his older brother and their cousin growing up and followed their every move (even when he wasn’t supposed to). Erdan would always stick up for his little brother when some of the older boys of the group would pick on him.
One night during a village festival, Mord got a little too far into his cups. He found Nogu, a girl that both he and Erdan had been courting, in a secluded part of the village and things went way too far. Bruno witnessed the whole thing, but being only eleven at the time, was too young and paralyzed with fear to act. Erdan, looking for Bruno, came across the scene and intervened at the last moment before Nogu is killed.
Nogu, after a prolonged illness, eventually recovers, but is bent on bringing Mord to the Elders for clan justice… She begs Erdan to tell the Elders the truth, but Mord makes Erdan (and by proxy, Bruno) swear to secrecy that he will not reveal the details of that night… Being stuck in a situation between choosing family or Nogu, Erdan believes he must set Nogu aside and leave the village, as the pressure is just too much.
Erdan sneaks off in the middle of the night, but he picks up his ever-present shadow in Bruno… It doesn’t take Erdan long to hear Bruno’s following steps and he confronts his brother to try to force him back to the village. Erdan’s reluctance to go back to the village and Bruno’s stubborn persistence in following his brother eventually forces Erdan’s hand.
The brothers live off the land, profiting from Erdan’s training from the village sage. The promise of opportunity in the Gwyll villages and towns has not proved to be as plentiful as they had first thought. The brothers have spent the past several years slowly making their way north, mostly spending their time in the woods after being chased out of the most recently visited Gwyll settlement.
In the five years that have passed since the incident, there is a white hot rage that bubbles up to the surface every now and again in Bruno. This has not helped in finding acceptance in any of the villages they have visited… He tries to appease the anger by playing the flute that his father gave him as a gift. His playing is not bard-worthy, but he enjoys it (that is until Erdan tells him to knock it off…). Erdan does not talk about their days before they left the village. They do discuss finding a place that will accept them for who they are and for what they are willing to offer…
The brothers have recently joined a warband in the northern frontier town of Mothen.
