War Ruins Aeris

Revenge of the Giants class selection

We don’t normally coordinate our characters all that much, but given the restrictions we are working with it might be a good idea to do so this time around.

The biggest issue is getting a leader with a decent dexterity. No leader has DEX as their primary, only one leader has DEX as a secondary (Watcher Spirit Shaman), and I’ve only seen two other builds where dexterity plays a role (Ranged Skald and Ranged Cleric Hybrid). This is probably going to be the hardest role for us to get right.

Defender has it a little better, but not a lot. Again, there are no DEX primary defenders, and there are two with DEX as secondary (Berserker and Weaponmaster). On the whole this should be a little easier than leader, but is still going to be tricky.

Controllers have a good mix of DEX primaries and it takes effort to find a striker where DEX isn’t the primary or secondary.

Our ideal mix is probably:

  • Defender
  • Leader
  • Striker
  • Striker
  • Striker (or controller)

Personally, the only thing I know I don’t want to play is a controller. Berserker, Shaman or Hexblade would all work for me, with my preference in that order. So if anyone feels particularly strongly about taking one of the roles speak up. I can be flexible.

One last thing I want to mention. The Watcher Spirit Shaman is primarily designed to enhanced ranged attacks, ranged basic attacks in particular. So getting the most out of the shaman means one of our strikers is ranged.

I will need to know if there are any special limitations on backgrounds or such?

Assuming everything passes muster I have a mostly built out a Thief with some extra special cheese thrown in.

If your coming to play currently trained skills are

Acrobatics 19
Athletics 15
Bluff 19
Dungeoneering 15
Perception 20
Stealth 23
Thievery 20 (22 with thieves tools)

Just a little skill focus. :)

Oh, Thief as built strictly melee.

I think I’d like to make the controller I can quite figure out how to make a good stelthy healler does someone else have an idea as to how to make one. i’ve got a good cntroller lined up though

also i’m not makeing this chaercture dex based but i am putting a lot of points into stealth i think i got it up to 18

Are themes open to us?

Echoing the request for clarification on backgrounds/themes.

Also, since no one has spoken for it yet I’ll take the healer role. I think I might have an interesting Ardent/Warlord hybrid combo.

Just wanted to add: themes are in, you can select them.

Are Dragonmarks allowed?

So, I’ll be bringing a pixie skald, charging cheese tomorrow. I’m still trying to tweak it for stealth, so that will be the only main issue. We’ll see how I do.

ALSO!!!

I’m bringing my daughter along (age 14) tomorrow. She just got involved in the role-playing group with some other highschoolers, mostly girls, that meets irregularly. I’m hoping you guys don’t mind squeezing her in for one session, or if it works out, for a longer period. I know tomorrow we have a few people out, so an extra sword might be handy. We’ll work on a character build tonight. (let me know right away if it’s not ok, I told her I would ask first)
