War Ruins Aeris

Upgrading Characters and Items

Alright, so here’s the run down.

Level: 26

Magic Items: Up to 4 Items, level 27 or less, value 3,375,000 gp
(That’s the equivalent of 1 25th, 1 26th, 1 27th)
Add 1 Heroic level item and 1 Paragon level item

Epic Destiny: Choose and Epic Destiny, tell me what it is and I’ll tweak it.

Ancient Items: Bring them up to Ancient VI. Each player gets 2 re-dos, if they don’t like the result of an item (to represent the staging), but you’re stuck with the item if you re-do it.

A couple things, to give people a heads up, so we can speed up decisions:
+10 is 55 Red, +9 is 40 Red, +8 is 30 Red, +7 is 20 red.
+5 Items gets one “Flavor” +10 gets 2 “Flavors”
or 2 of the same color as “Flavor” on a +10 count as a single level

A flavor, means an existing power may have an added effect that is based on that color, (for example, Blue with Yellow flavor might be a sped up healing, or a healing power with a bonus to speed or initiative). But a flavor may also manifest as a unique minor power. Flavors are created by Level 0 slots being filled by something other than red. Doing this multiple times has no added effect, except in the case of +10, which gains only a second flavor.

That Said… I would like to start posting some of the results ASAP, so if you can post your info and plans as soon as you know, that would be really helpful. And I’ll try to answer each day.

Question: For item slots outside of the core three (weapon/armor/neck), do we suspect or know if Red has any effect beyond triggering flavor at +5 and +10?

If I’m understanding your question right…

It’s not clear to you, one way to find out would be a trial, for example, taking an Ancient I items without a +, and giving it RRRR for Ancient II.

One thing you’ve encountered, that you would assume applies is Red with Violet, seems to absorb bonuses from others. The nature of what bonuses is more complicated.

My other interpretation is, "Can Red be a “Flavor”?" and that answer is generally “no,” but there are circumstances where it will have an effect (like the Violet example above).

I’ll go ahead and fire first:

Boomstick Staff. Currently I have it as r12 o9 +5 (no flavor). Assuming that’s correct:

A4: r/r/r/r/r/p
A5: o/o/r/r/r/r/p
A6: r/w/r/w/r/r/r/p

Projected end stats: r55 o20 w10 +10 (double pink flavor)

I think the question is, if you were to put a bunch of red onto, say, boots, enough for a +5, would it gain a flavor bonus? Normally boots don’t have enhancement modifiers.

As for the boomstick, that’s two color changes. If we are concerned about losing crystals I don’t think that’s where we want to start.

Ah, no, I misread as well. The question is, does adding red to boots do anything besides add flavor at +5 and +10.

The question is, does adding red to boots do anything besides add flavor at +5 and +10.

Yes, that. Sounds like the answer is “sometimes”.

Regarding color changes, I thought we decided to go all state-enemy so we ended up with two of each color?

Oh, yes, it would. Although, if you’re not getting a significant bonus from red, you’re better off upping other colors than pumping red up to get a flavor.

Yeah, I’ll hold off on describing the Boom stick until you are ready to change crystals, although you’ll get the same effect from:
ORRRRP ORRRRRP RWRWRRRP and only have to change one crystal (and the question would be What color to White, since you’re keeping all the Red for this)

I’ve got no problem with enemy of the state, but I didn’t think we’d pulled the trigger on that. If we did that’s my mistake.

Ok, I would be willing as well, but I’ll hold off on any doubles until it’s decided for sure.

I believe I can safely go like this and still end up at the same place:

A4: o/w/r/r/r/p
A5: r/r/o/w/r/r/p
A6: r/r/r/r/w/o/r/p

r55 o20 w10 +10 (double pink flavor)
