Pearl of Power info:
This seemingly normal pearl of average size and luster is a potent aid to all spellcasters who prepare spells (clerics, druids, rangers, paladins, and wizards). Once per day on command, a pearl of power enables the possessor to recall any one spell that she had prepared and then cast that day. The spell is then prepared again, just as if it had not been cast. The spell must be of a particular level, depending on the pearl. Different pearls exist for recalling one spell per day of each level from 1st through 9th and for the recall of two spells per day (each of a different level, 6th or lower). this is for specifically 2nd level spells
Your father is Henryk of Fenenga – a solid knight and loyal servant to the Duchy of Carniola for many years. He holds his small fief directly from Samo, Duke of Carniola – the villa and attached peasants are on the south road from Laibach, near Breza. As a squire and young knight, your father was in service to the throne of Bayerisch. He and many other knights and men at arms embarked on a quest to seize the city of Laibach (which they had claim over) from a group of “brigands, bandits and rebellious serfs” who had taken it many years previous. Through his service, your father became friends with Klemen, who has become the Lord of Prebold – today, even more than 40 years later they remain friends and occasionally share stories of the old days when they’re deep into the brandy. Both of them served with and under Samo as well – and neither thinks well of the man. For as long as you remember, your father has refused to travel to Laibach except on the rare occasions of a direct summons from the Duke. He also never speaks the name without spitting or grumbling. Just after you and your brother were born, your father had his leg crushed in a mounted tournament – his horse reared and fell in a bout against a young knight. He lost his best armor and horse to the victor, though he claims that his opponent spooked his horse at the moment of the clash. Your family was never rich, this was the start of the financial ruin of the house.
Your mother, Darja, was a member of a rich household in Carniola – after the forces of Bayerisch were victorious, she was married off to your father at age 16 (he was almost 30). Your mother is the proper noble lady – proud of her station and strictly formal. She almost never speaks of the family she came from and plays her role as the head of household to the hilt.
Your oldest brother, Falk is a squire in service to the king of Bayerisch, you haven’t seen him since you were 8.
Your second brother, Horst is a scholar wandering somewhere in the Allamanic Kingdoms.
Your sister, Ernestine is married to the castellan of Gorje.
You and Hans were born late, when your mother was in her late 30s – it was deemed miraculous that all three of you came through the ordeal so healthily. You and Hans were inseparable for as long as you can remember. You acted enough alike that your mother sometimes couldn’t tell you apart – and you would work to share trouble and blame for each other. By the time you were 10, it was time for Hans to take on the duties of a page, but your family couldn’t afford the fees to the Duke required for such an appointment to take place. Klemen arranged for an old arms master to live at your villa for a few years, and he helped train your brother (who in turn taught you every lesson that he learned), but eventually even the cost of the teacher grew to be too much. Hans and you practiced his lessons, rode the woods and pretended that you both were knights. When you turned 16, your parents presented you both with gifts to prepare you for your future. Hans received an old set of scalemail, a long sword and a shield freshly painted with the household arms – he had an appointment to squire for Othmar, Lord of Ribnica. You received a pretty new dress and the word that you would be traveling to Gorje to serve as a maid for your sister Ernestine, married off to a knight in Baron Ekkehardt’s household. A serious fight opened between you and your parents, and you ran away on your favorite horse. After hiding in the woods for a night, you decided to return – only to find the household in mourning. Hans was thrown from his horse while riding to look for you and was dead.
No more was said about Gorje, and your brother was barely spoken of at all. For the last couple of years, you have wandered the villa almost as a ghost. Your parents rarely speak to you, and never about anything of importance. The villa is in disrepair, and your parents have sold all but there two riding palfreys. There is a porter and a maid still in their employ, but no other household. Sometime in the last two years you slipped off to Laibach with the help of Kunigunde (Cheryl) to get Hans’s armor fit to you. You’ve been toying with the idea of making your escape for a while. This winter, your parents took an extended visit at Prebold as guests of Lord Klemen and you wandered the cold corridors of the villa on your own for days.
