Vadir Di’Cazzeo is a 23-year-old human occultist (rogue/warlock/daggerspell mage).

Vadir di’Cazzeo was born in Liberty. His mother, a seamstress, died when he was 2. His father, a moneylender named Tirell di’Cazzeo, got into trouble with the wrong sorts of people, and was forced to flee with Vadir to the obscure town of Diamond Lake. Vadir was only 4 at the time, and has little memory of this harrowing journey, or of who it was that his father tangled with. Tirell di’Cazzeo took a job at the Emporium as “financial manager”, which basically meant he managed the books and sent out the muscle to collect debts when required. When Vadir was 10, his father Tirell di’Cazzeo died of tuberculosis. The working girls of the Emporium took very quickly to the rascally orphan in their midst, and raised him as their own. Vadir lost a father, but gained many mothers.

The teenage Vadir learned to sneak around the small confines of Diamond Lake with ease, and occasionally got into trouble for having “nimble” fingers. Pressured by Zalamandra to make himself useful as he got older, he learned how to wield and throw daggers with great dexterity. When Vadir was 14, he met the grizzled Ashandar, one of the Striders of Darmon, who became something of a father figure whenever he came through town. Vadir occasionally accompanied him on short deliveries to nearby towns, and he earned the respect of the elder Ashandar as a potential recruit for the Striders of Darmon. He learned the art of listening, and of getting people to tell you what you want to know, as well as many fighting and survival skills.

As Vadir came into adulthood, he performed his knife throwing act nightly at the Emporium and acted as a spy for Zalamandra, while also supplementing his income with occasional tasks from the Striders of Darmon. Vadir had considered joining the Striders of Darmon, but his contact Ashandar has not been through Diamond Lake in the past year, and the Striders of Darmon insist they know nothing of his current whereabouts. Regardless, His future changed abruptly when he met his fellow adventurers, Bors Splintershield, Doran Stout, Ivagmar the half-orc, and Zerric Splintershield.

Vadir has always been fascinated by dark magics, and, in particular, has made friends with Doran Stout and the wise man of Diamond Lake, Allustan. Recently, however, he has been recruited by the Order of the Crimson Raven to combat the growing scourge of the Seekers, and he has been learning more of the arts of dagger fighting and eldritch magic from their order than he has from Allustan or Doran Stout. Foiling the Seeker Khellek drew the attention of the Order of the Crimson Raven, and they recruited Vadir into their ranks.

Vadir is extremely dashing and charming, with shoulder-length black hair, and green eyes. He typically wears fine but durable clothing (seldom silk) and favors the colors black and red. He occasionally dons a ring with a crimson raven on it. Although selfish and apolitical, Vadir is loyal enough to those he considers friends. He is motivated by a Faustian desire for knowledge, however, and this supercedes all other concerns.
