An Imperial noble with a shady past, the good captain has worked for some twenty-four years in the most dangerous war zones around, running guns and working as an agent or fixer for both mercenary companies and planetary governors. Though always an independent ‘consultant’ rumours abounded that he had some connections with the Imperial intelligence service – no doubt fuelled by both his high social standing as a baron and Battalitor’s penchant for outrageous lies. Several years ago his play to become the de facto ruler of the planet Cagaro ended in betrayal and he was almost assassinated by his erstwhile ally General Lafayette.
After he recovered from the injuries sustained in the attack Julio attempted to rebuild his power base but found his mercantile operation on the wrong side of the law when a change in Imperial munitions regulations effectively bankrupted him. He has now secured a mortgage on the far trader ‘Avalon’ and has put together a small crew. His aim is to spend a few years operating in frontier space – trading and exploring other more lucrative opportunities – before moving on to bigger and better things.
