orn among the Travelers, Ivy lost her family at a young age when they crossed Thomm’s Run, and she tried to find a better route across. She ended up getting lost, separated from her family. She met Theodwyn, and her family took her in, but only briefly. A year later, when both girls turned seven, they sent them both off to join the Guard.

Years later, as a guardmouse, Theodwyn helped her to track down her family. She reunited with her mother and father, and met a younger brother she never knew about. But Hemlock felt that she had betrayed the People by joining the Guard. Near Pictun, a merchant accused him of stealing something. He had not, but the Mouse Guard patrol that intervened didn’t believe him. “All Travelers are liars and thieves,” one of the guardmice had said. As “punishment,” they plucked out his eye. Hemlock hated the Guard, and felt personally betrayed to find that his sister had joined them. Ivy tried to calm her brother, but it came to blows. Ivy won that fight, but at the cost of turning her estranged brother into a life-long enemy.

Ivy served in the Eighth Weasel War, helping form the hare cavalry that ultimately won the conflict. That success promoted her to patrol guard. In the winter of 866, Matriarch Cynewyn promoted her to patrol leader. She commands Wilric and Reinhart. She has recently set out on her first mission.
