Bio

Centuries ago, a group of human noble families made a terrible pact to further their desire for power. Devils were set loose in the world, and devils were set loose in them. Calling themselves tieflings, they and their descendants bore the marks of the pact in the horns that grew on their brow.

Leda was born the seventh daughter to the noble tiefling house of Volanyr. From the moment of her birth, her family did everything they could to keep her sequestered from society. Her eyes shone with a faint golden light, and she had no horns. She could almost pass for human. For years her family dressed her in veils and elaborate crowns, tiaras and hats to obscure her features on the rare occasions when she was allowed to leave their house. As she grew up, she had many questions for her family about why she was different. Her sisters simply laughed and told her how inferior she was, but the one and only time she asked her mother what it meant, her mother’s cold rage silenced her questions. When she was fifteen, she found references in an old family geneology to an aunt, three generations ago, who was born with the same ‘affliction’. No other records could be found in the family histories, as if they had been expunged. Only a birthdate, and a location in the family crypts.

Years later, Leda first manifested psychic powers after the husband of one of her older sisters attempted to rape her. A glowing green blade appeared in Leda’s hand, and she dispatched him quickly in his surprise. After she realized he was dead, she hid from her family and the authorities in the family crypts. While down there, she remembered the story of her great aunt, and located the appropriate tomb. In her aunt’s tomb, she found a diary, and a wide triangular-bladed short sword. When she drew the blade from its scabbard, it glowed green in the torchlight, and Leda gasped as she could feel it merge with her mind blade. In the diary she found that the sword was named Mau-Jehe, “noble redemption”. Leda’s aunt had believed that her altered form was a sign from the Sovereigns that her destiny was to redeem her people, and free them from the ancient demonic pact. In the depths of the crypt, over her ancestor’s bones, Leda swore she would find a way to drive the corruption from her people. 3 nights later she slipped out of the crypts, her ancestral home, and the city. Now she travels the world seeking ancient lore regarding the corruption/creation of the tiefling race.
