In an age all but forgotten Athas was a blue world teeming with life, however powerful Sorcerer-Kings stripped the land of life, exchanging fertility for power.

Athas is now a world where the meek are buried in the silt, and the mighty climb upon the backs of the dead to rise to power. It is a place where steel is worth more than most people’s lives, and only the skill to wield it is valued more. Each day is a struggle against a world burnt by the unchecked use of arcane power, as well as the creatures that now inhabit it.
