The TARDIS crew first met John Doe on the planet Balox when trying to thwart a Krillitane invasion. John Doe possessed a device he called a Magna-Driver, which he procured from a “friend”. Doe seemed to have already met the TARDIS crew, but in their future (his past).

Doe likes to talk in an obviously fake British accent. He realizes that everyone knows it’s fake, but he likes to do it anyway. He claims it makes him feel “sophisticated”.

The TARDIS crew met Doe for the second time in Victorian London, investigating the actions of a lone Weeping Angel called Gabriel. This time, Doe brought a companion of his own, Asa Crowe. When the church Gabriel was working out of began to be destroyed by a time rift, Doe managed to rescue one of the TARDIS crew, Tobias Moon, with the use of a trans-dimensional, time and space traveling crate, which may or may not be a TARDIS. Asa hints that John Doe might be a Time Lord and jokingly referred to him as “Cheese” due to his low value on personal hygiene.
