2159. Earth is finally united as the United World Council and has spread into space, reaching as far as the Kuiper Belt beyond Pluto. Technology has made life longer and softer. Mankind has colonized many planets of the Solar system and terraforming is underway. On Mars, humans can almost breathe without help nowadays. The future looks bright.

A threat is slowing creeping towards the birthplace of man. Out there, from beyond Pluto, the shadow of old and powerful entities can be felt. While the UWC spokespersons do some damage control to calm the population, some strange occurrences are happening out in the void of space. Some disturbing rumours can be heard about a prophecy about a cosmic event that will destroy mankind. The astral body known as the Chthonian Star is coming our way and who knows what it brings to us?
