Eldron ‘Winter Heart’ was born in an elven town called Norn before the first snowfall of winter. His childhood was normal iin all respects for an elf. His great intelligence served him well in his schooling and when the time came he went to study at the university. It is at this time that he first met Firion. Both were very skilled but where Eldrons talents came from hours of study and work in the libraries Firion seemed innately magical and always more capable. Eldron envied this about Firion intensely. He also found Firion’s godlier than thou attitude distasteful.
After graduating from the University, Eldron went travelling. He linked up with a group of adventurers who would become the most important people in his life. There was Marron, a warrior of incredible strength, Thadock, a mighty barbarian warrior, and most importantly Erika, a beautiful and talented rogue. It didn’t take long for Eldron to become attracted to Erika though he kept himself at a distance, knowing that their differences in life spans would make a relationship difficult. However, after some time their attraction to each other blossomed into a true love. Eldron even went so far as to marry Erika.
Eventually, their travels took them into other planes where Eldron became an interest for the Fey queen of the Winter plane. He was always able to fight off her charms though.
The group found their way to the fiery plane of Azzard where the people were being oppressed by demons. They joined with the oppressed to help fight the demons off. Durring the battle Erika and Marron were struck down by a powerful demon lord called Marduth. The people of Azzard still tell stories of what came next.
Eldron, full of rage and radiating a cold fury that chilled even his friend Thadock, marched through the demon army, laying waste to all who came across them. He fought Marduth in the middle of his army, surrounded by demons, in a suicidal gamble. As the other demons pressed against him and he was near death, Eldron broke his staff of power, unleashing a massive amount of magical power in doing so. The blast apparently destroyed Eldron and hundreds of demons around him. With the loss of their lord, Thadock was able to lead the Azzardians against the remaining demons and won the war.
Eldron did not die, however. He was teleported away during the final explosion of power. He was saved by the Winter Queen, Mab. She had been interested in Eldron for many years. Eldron, his heart now frozen by the death of his beloved Erika joined the queen and served her as her emmissary to other planes. She gave him great gifts and power so that he could do his duty. It was during this time that he earned the name ‘Winter Heart’ both for his mastery of winter magic and for his frigid temperment when dispatching the enemies of the Winter Queen.
Eventually his service to the Queen took him to a rising power among the planes, the plane of Azzard where Eldron was to parley with its king, Thadock. Thadock had decided to stay in the plane where his friends had given their lives to make sure that it stayed safe, he became their king after the battle.
Their reunion was bitter sweet however, as the winter queen had made Eldron forget his friends and had twisted him into an unemotional creature. Thadock was able to break Eldron free of the Queen’s enchantments, however, when he showed Eldron the memorial for Marron, Erika, and Eldron. After being freed from the Queen’s enchantment Eldron left her service in a fairly spectacular display of power. For a time he helped Thadock in Azzard but eventually left. He wanted to return to the universities to reconnect with who he used to be.
And that was when he met Firion for a second time. Eldron was no longer jealous of Firions abilities. He had grown quite a bit. Unfortunately, so had Firion. Eldron no longer envied Firions powers, He had faced great and terrible creatures in other planes and come out alive, instead Firion made him worry. Firion’s nature had grown, he had become capricious and manipulative. Using other students like pawns on a game. Worse, Eldron had begun to suspect that Firion was no mortal. Eldron had no way of knowing what kind of being Firion was and he did not seem terribly evil, still the possibility was there and it gave Eldron ever greater worries. Eldron vowed to watch Firion very closely to make sure that he never crossed the line.
Aside from his worries with Firion, Eldron occupied himself in the study of transmutation magic, a lost art in his home plane. In passing he discovered that a vagabond group of Gypsies seemed to possess the power of transmutaion. He turned down entry into a prestigious guild in Malachia to join with and study the Gypsies. He found that their powers were similar to his own but different enough that he couldn’t duplicate them. Still he worked to find the secret. Eventually the Gypsies elected him as their leader. Later he took a baby boy in as his child. Eldron was totally unprepaired for a child. He spent many nights wishing Elika was there to help him. And, let’s be honest, Callan was a handful.
Eldron continued to study and lead the Gypsy caravan. When the Demon lord Asmodai began doing his work he joined up with a resistance to get him out of our plane. Eldron brought back his old talents and title as Winter Heart to frighten the demons. With his name alone, he was able to cause a retreat of more than one group.
While fighting in the demons castle, Eldron came across a number of great artifacts. While the young wizard Kitsure wished to destroy them, Eldron took them wanting to study them and hide them away. to take the secret of where they are with him to death.
Now, with his adopted son in tow, Eldron intends to journey to Cat’ll to find transmuters that he has heard about. He only has a few years left, and he refuses to die without unlocking the true secrets of transmutation. Also, he has to make sure that Callan is ready to handle Firion if that should ever be necessary.
