Argent Singularity Horizon, or Ashe, has been many things since the exodus from Spiral began, but all of those things were merely pieces of a whole she didn’t realize were incomplete until her exaltation as an Alchemical of the Starmetal caste. Now, in hindsight, it all seems like some kind of master plan, giving her the exact skills for the exact situation her people now faced; and she was determined not to fail them.
Old views and old ideas grip the Deliberative. This singular body has had more than four thousands years to latch upon misguided opinions and believe them fact. It is a delusion that many see as a greater threat than even the Tyrant Sun. But it is a necessary evil given the dangers the people of the Maker face. Those that see the truth must simply bear the burden of breaking the traditions of old so that they do not drag a people in exile to their deaths.
Ashe is young for a colossus, barely counting more than 120 years since her exaltation. And it is this youth, this agility of thought, which has facilitated her rise. She sees the stagnancy of form and process around her, and works beyond the bounds of conventional wisdom to achieve results in a way few have expected. The fact that she often does this without fully explaining herself has earned her a reputation as something of an unstable element.
As a Dagger of Autochthon, Ashe has pursued one singular goal for most of her exaltation; to be the weapon that is overlooked, that is underestimated, but that, when used properly, is just as deadly as any other in their arsenal. And to achieve this, the young Alchemical has looked outward, at the universe outside of the Spiral, and the natural powers it contains; powers her elders even now continue to overlook in their “wisdom”.
Most of existence outside of the Spiral is empty. But on occasion the fleeing body of the Maker has discovered solar systems, celestial formations often containing a number of resource rich planets. And at the center of each of these solar systems are one or more stars. To date the Deliberative has found little use for these fusion engines. They are too large and too energetic for them to provide much value. Often of a scale that dwarfs even Autochthon, they are simply too unwieldy. Ashe believes otherwise.
Through her studies Ashe has learned that these stars exist at a delicate point of equilibrium, a point where the internal forces of the matter resist the compressive forces of gravity. It is her belief that upsetting this equilibrium could have a catastrophic affect on the star. If the star is small enough, it would simply flare and die. But if it was large enough, the resulting release of energy would be… unimaginable. And while such a release would be enough to destroy even the Maker, the aftermath of such an event is even more interesting. What would be left behind…
But, for now, her work is predominantly theoretical. The scale of these celestial bodies is so large that any kind of significant manipulation has proven impossible. Still, Ashe has managed to work her way into a position where, when the Maker encounters a new solar system, she is part of the team that surveys it, collecting information and resources. In particular, she regularly volunteers to haul hydrogen collectors through the photosphere of the star (a task few other ships are equipped to handle), which has given her regular access to new data as she seeks to unlock the secrets of these sleeping giants.
