The first thing one notices about the character Charles is that he appears to be a child of about 11. However, being an elf, he’s actually supposed to be nearly half a century old.
The character wears a white formal shirt, with lace ruffles on the lapels, and around the collar and cuffs. He wears black trousers cut in a formal style, but made of a rugged material. His shoes are of black leather, ruggedly made and quite tough, but are nonetheless of very fine make. Over all of this, the boy wears a deep blue greatcoat, with tastefully minuscule gold scroll-work around the hem, the high collar, and the sleeves. Perched atop his head is a very fine wide-brimmed felt hat made to match his coat. He is meticulously groomed at all times, his hair combed and styled, and his clothes perpetually looking as if they were just cleaned and pressed, and he smells very faintly of lilacs.
He is perpetually followed by a housecat-sized bipedal lizard, affectionately called Suki by her master. Suki is quick, quiet, exceptionally intelligent for a reptile, and possessed of keen senses. Charles is very possessive of Suki, and while he lets her wander, he is quick to reproach anyone who lays hands on the creature.

When subjected to an attack that normally allows a Reflex saving throw for half damage, a familiar takes no damage if it makes a successful saving throw and half damage even if the saving throw fails.
Share Spells
The wizard may cast a spell with a target of “You” on his familiar (as a touch spell) instead of on himself. A wizard may cast spells on his familiar even if the spells do not normally affect creatures of the familiar’s type (magical beast).
Empathic Link
The master has an empathic link with his familiar to a 1 mile distance. The master can communicate empathically with the familiar, but cannot see through its eyes. Because of the link’s limited nature, only general emotions can be shared. The master has the same connection to an item or place that his familiar does.
