Bio
Maglod grew up in G-town and knows it well. His wealthy* (albeit low-born) family arranged for him to board with the temple of Vergadain where he received a decent education. He rose through the ranks of the clergy quickly, associating himself with the Trueforger clan and performing numerous tasks for them. He grew to specialise in diplomacy, negotiation and trade with the residents of the international zone.
Maglod’s current official occupation is ‘Commerce Secretary’ of the international zone (how big is the international zone?). His superior is the Overseer of the international zone, and his office employs a small staff of assistants, inspectors and accountants/bookkeepers who work under him – including a deputy who can readily step in should Maglod be called away on other business. The duties of the Commerce Secretary are primarily to ensure that all relevant laws and regulations pertaining to economic activity in the international zone are complied with.
Maglod also holds the position of ‘Prime Seeker’ of the church of Vergadain, although the position is more of an honorary/figurehead one. The day-to-day running of the church is handled by underlings. Maglod’s duties include delivering a sermon once per tenday (if he’s in town) and attending the occasional ecumenical council (a multi-faith council where the high priests of all the Dwarven gods gather to discuss important matters of faith).
Finally, Maglod holds a seat on the council of Trueforgers, the governing body of the Trueforger clan. They meet regularly to discuss matters of importance to the clan, although attendance by council members is not compulsory. Maglod is entitled to speak and vote at such meetings, however he rarely does so.
*To the extent that anyone can be wealthy in this society. They probably have good connections or something.
