Solzak is the result of the union between a poor human merchant and an Elven trinket seller in ‘The Warrens’ district of Tyr. The child was raised by his mother in the Elven Market and survived, despite his ancestry, working as a street entertainer on behalf of the Toothcutters gang – often distracting unsuspecting citizenry whilst their purses were cut. Solzak’s ability to entertain the crowds with singing and acrobatics soon gained him a reputation across the district. One day a troupe of minstrels, upon witnessing the half-elf’s natural ability, recruited him and they traveled across the Tyr region entertaining wealthy merchants and nobles. Solzak spent the next 10 years with the troupe, known to some as the ‘Troupe of Shadows’, learning both the arts of entertainment and the darker arts associated with Athasian minstrels.
After leaving the troupe, Solzak was hired by House Tyrtherni, a small but established noble house in Tyr, and spent a few years entertaining nobles on behalf of the family patriarch – Senator Vildeen. It is during this time, Solzak is thought to have begun working for a mysterious and powerful benefactor in the city. Several assassinations of supporters of Kalak and the existing regime have since occurred and some think this to be the work of Solzak. He has an uncanny ability to be in the right place at the right time, often disappearing for days or weeks at a time before re-appearing when his skills are most in demand. Rumors of Solzak’s shadowy activities have persisted and he is believed to be skillful poisoner and master of disguise. Indeed, some whisper that his power emanates from the Gray.
Prior to recent events, Solzak could often be found entertaining the nobility in the Sweetwater Inn and was once been seen buying wares in Narissa’s Colours and Scents. However, he has now left the employment of House Tyrtherni and is rumored to operate out of ‘The Warrens’ under the protection of his anonymous benefactor and former associates in the Toothcutters – it is said that none who have followed the former street entertainer into ‘The Warrens’ have returned alive.
