Bio

Patient Shrike considers the period prior to his exaltation a subject best left forgotten. On a practical level, he is young enough to still have living family, and on a personal level, it is not a time which holds fond memories for him. When he was young, he left his home, and journeyed thousands of miles into other lands before taking the second breath, and that is all he feels needs be said on the topic.

After his exaltation, he was taken under the wing of a wizened gold faction sifu called Harren the Elder, who quickly recognized Shrike’s gift for the arcane crafts, and set him on the road to taking a supporting role in the order of the maidens’ chosen, building and maintaining all the infrastructure and devices which enable the viziers to carry out their vital tasks in the defense of Creation.

When Harren vanished unexpectedly some years later however, Shrike’s tutelage fell to another master, Spinning Silence. A member of the bronze faction, Spinning Silence had little use for Shrike, who was thoroughly indoctrinated towards the opposing viewpoint, and so he arranged that his erstwhile pupil should inherit all that which his former master, Harren, had once possessed.

This included a number of things that proved useful – artifacts, a salary, and even a powerful manse in heaven – but it also included a variety of duties for which the young Sidereal was entirely unprepared.

Amongst those duties was the mission of overseeing the fate of an unruly bunch of dragon blooded, long since dispersed by careful celestial effort, based on bronze faction concerns about their loyalty, and the impact they would have on the future of the realm.
