“What is the ‘Tempest’?”

The session will begin at an indefinite time, during the early evening of Sunday, 14 OCT 2012. Rhydian has called the cell to a large house out in Maywood, IL that he claims was also connected to the Everleigh Social Club somehow.
Kelly, Levi, and May will have taken a cab or cabs out to this location—with Rhydian paying the hefty fare. Kelly awoke only just recently, having been taken to a hotel near Pilsen by Nthinda. Once in Maywood, you find a great old house at the end of a long private drive. It’s secluded by trees (at the edge of the ‘Thatcher Woods’) and not far from the property is a wide, lazy stream. The house looks to date back as far as the 1940s or possibly even the 20’s—a McMansion this is not. Furthermore, it sports a number of built-on additions radiating out from the original plan. Since Rhydian is there already, a number of the lights are on inside, and you can see his car parked in the cul de sac. There appears to be a servant’s quarters or carriage house of some kind opposing the house as well. The building seems to have a warmth and friendliness to it; the orange light from within and the fine upkeep of the property are inviting and put a body at ease. It is one of those places which just seems to claim that ‘good, honest, loving people live here’ but one can’t really determine how that statement is being made.
“What’s her angle?”

We begin on the afternoon of Saturday, 13 OCT 2012. The current time is [Unspecified; leaving this open because I need to get my/our ducks in a row first]. Kelly has not yet been to see the Dr. and pretty much everyone has things to share that don’t or won’t wait until Sunday … so, Kelly, your appointment is still in the future (Quentin, if this is a major issue, please let me know). I feel like I am having to play catch-up with all the things that were wanted to be handled in this downtime; I don’t want to just charge on ahead. I’ve declared when the session will begin. If you have questions for me or actions to declare, reach out to me and I will do my best to address them before we play on Tuesday.
At some point during your downtime, the PCs would have seen the following on television: a trailer for a movie coming out “this Halloween” called ‘Kill Devil Hills’ starring Grace Park, Michael Fassbender, Adam Busch, and William Fichtner set to the music of ‘Dlz’ by TV On The Radio. It’s a supernatural horror thriller taking place in the famous Outer Banks about four friends doing battle with monsters from the sea. Additionally, a local item gets brief national attention at the end of the week’s news cycle: a recent police action involving a major drug bust in Lake Geneva has revealed, amidst a private art collection, a long lost statue of Athena. The work is a life-size Roman marble from the second century copied after a Greek original that was considered destroyed during the second World War. It looks remarkably like Adrienne with maybe 20 or 30 extra pounds on her body. Authorities are now investigating the rightful owner—Italy may have a claim on it.
“We should not be here for this.”

The cell faces only about a twenty minute drive after the taking of statements and the drive back to the parking lot where all of you are met, through car windows, by the evening skeleton crew of the facility. It is of course, a shitstorm by that point, virtually everyone on the grounds has assembled outside the main building to gossip and gawk at the spectacle. When you reach the edge of the grounds, leaving the nature preserve and into the suburban environs of Batavia, several news vans are already there complete with reporters getting ready to tape their pieces while standing in front of a good line of sight to something useful like a building in the distance or a Fermilab sign.
Rhydian is allowed to follow the convoy of six DuPage Co. Sheriff squad cars back to this place, the most ridiculous municipal complex your storyteller has ever seen. Everyone else is taken alone in a separate squad car. There’s plenty of activity at the courthouse, even past 10 at night, but it’s entirely dwarfed and made insignificant by the massiveness of the complex itself. It’s a complex of maybe a dozen broad and tall buildings each separated by generous, empty suburban landscaping. That ridiculous Moral Support roll means that more formal statement taking once the detectives return from the scene goes smoothly for everyone. People keep their stories straight and not much incriminating about the cell is offered by anyone. People are generally kept apart during all this, so it’s unclear what’s going on with Dr. Vanberg or the driver, Rob.
During all this, you’re each introduced to Special Agent Hector Carretero, the DuPage detectives tell you he has some questions for you about a separate investigation. You’re held up there for at least and hour, just waiting around until he visits you and grills you with questions starting with “Where were you on the evening of September 27th?”, “Are you associated with a man named Michael Samuelson? Ellison? [and he lists various other aliases Michael has used]?” “Where is Michael now?” … and when you say you don’t know, he assumes you’re sheltering him and he issues vague threats.
