Damian grew up in the farming town of Delta, where he lived with his mother, father, and 3 siblings (2 brothers and a sister). They lived a simple, but happy, life for many years. Damian first met his bird, Perry, when he was 15. The next year, Delta was raided by barbarians, as often happens to the town. After the raid, Damian found that one of his brothers had died and his father was missing. He and his brother tried to continue working the farm, but the work was too much for just the two of them. They sold off their land to various neighbors, and moved to Calishaport, using the money they got to buy a home and survive long enough to find decent jobs.
The whole time, Damian was certain that his father wasn’t just a lost corpse, but had actually disappeared during the raid. Maybe he was captured, or maybe he escaped and got separated from the family. Damian soon met a man who said that his father owed his employers an incredibly large debt, and that they’ll help Damian find his father if he pays off his father’s debt, plus a small fee for the extra service. Knowing that he could never make enough money with the job he had to both pay for his needs and save up enough to pay off the man, Damian found a fairly high-paying job as a courier for House Calisha and moved into a cheap room a woman named Margaret was renting out. He’s been working this job for a few years now, and he’s made some decent progress towards paying off the man completely. Damian just hopes he can earn enough fast enough that the man and his employers will be able to help find his father in a healthy state.
