Human Wizard and Elementalist
Merlinus Caledonensis is an enigmatic figure, rising from relative obscurity as a Theran mage to become one of the most powerful spellcasters in the Empire, and a leading member of Navarim’s Legacy. His career began simply enough, as a House wizard in service to House Zanjan, supporting troops and commanders with magical knowledge. He spent decades working the commanders of the Theran forces in Marac, as well as offering advice and support to Theran troop commanders in Talea, Creana, and Vasgothia. During his time in Creana, he seemingly vanished from Imperial records when he was sent to tend a library in an Imperial holding.
He returned several years later, having seemingly aged quite a bit in the three years he was gone. His command of magic had increased ten-fold during that time, and he seemed to even have knowledge of past and future events that no one else had. He quickly leveraged his newfound power to rise to the ranks of the Heavenherds, and took a position in Navarim’s Legacy when it was offered to him.
In every encounter, Merlinius seems to know ahead of time what will occur, making him a brilliant strategist and planner for the group. He claims his gift of foresight is a result of changing how he lives his life, an answer which seems to satisfy his companions in Navarim’s Legacy, but has baffled the other members of the Heavenherds.
Despite his prediction to the contrary, Merlinus was slain at the Battle of Throal in combat with the Passion’s Champions, along with the rest of Navarim’s Legacy.
