[COMPLETE] Project: Farmers and Residents

Saul Hemming wishes to set in motion plans to attract farmers and residents to the hold.

(to be continued)

Step One

There exists some room beneath the ridge that the keep is situated on for some construction. Assuming you can attract the right tradesmen, a tanner, a trading post, and a basic blacksmith for maintaining tools, horseshoes, and farming implements would be ideal.

Additionally, a quick survey of the surrounding land reveals some areas which are suitable for herding goats.

You can spare a few guards from your roster and dispatch them in an attempt to advertise your hold as a good place to live.

  1. Search the area around Kyrshireton
  2. Search the area around Lake Cedglen
  3. Search the area around Buckborough

I will Search the area around Lake Cedglen

Step Two

The humble peasants living around Lake Cedglen seem mostly content with their lives, but your guards do manage to scrounge up a few serfs living deeper in the woods. A rural blacksmith, a small-time trader, two hunters, and their families are enticed by the prospects of a safer place to live.

The blacksmith and the trader will require proper facilities to ply their trades, but the hunters can either be left to their own devices, or some housing can be built for them from the hold’s coffers. The smithy and trading post will each cost 500 gold to establish, for a total of 1,000. Some simple communal housing for the hunters and their families will cost an additional total of 400 gold.

  1. Build only the smithy and trading post for 1,000 gold
  2. Build the smithy, trading post, and communal housing for 1,400 gold

I will build the facilities required at the base of the keep near the tavern. The 1400 gold for all buildings is an acceptable amount.
