“The Merchant King was reluctant to help at first, but the teacher was wise and reminded him of a favor long ago. He agreed, if unhappily but not without a favor of his own.
He brought them to Junction, a place between places. He was a powerful man there, loved by all the people he hoped to become the ruler of this land. There, he let them go, and told them to return in a days time. He would give them no other help, for they were criminals of the king and they would ruin his people’s love.
The five went on their paths, each following their desires and needs. Their teachers warning rang true, as the fire within them became a beacon for the strange. They returned to the merchant King, some scared, some relieved, to embark upon his favor.
A caravan had been missing and suddenly was rediscovered. Believing this to be an ill omen, the five were sent to investigate. What they would find there was the beginning of their journey and the beginning of the horrors that were to come.
The Kings Men also had not forgotten, and it would not be the first time that they would have to fend off his soldiers.”
