Hyper-condensed, easy-reading background
There are many rangers in Syfalia, but none quite like Lystos Harken. He was born to an elvish woman, but was orphaned at the age of seven, when a land dispute destroyed his village. He was taken in by a Syfalian baron and raised as his son. From an early age, Harken became enamored with the idea of epic adventures through fantasy books and tales from his father’s troops. He spent his formative years pining for excitement, and when he came of age, he left his father’s estate to forge his own adventures in the world.
Not much is known of Harken in the few years following his departure, but official records indicate that he resurfaced a short time ago, working as a caravan guard.
Personality and Traits
You will likely never find a more stalwart companion than Lystos Harken. While he can be silly at times, Harken’s resolve is unshakable; once he sets his mind to a task, he will do whatever it takes to see it accomplished. He has always been fond of fantasy novels, and will take any opportunity to emulate his heroes, attempting to be the epitome of good. However, sometimes it seems like he is trying too hard, as if attempting to atone for something he’s done in the past. He despises death, and will try to take every possible avenue to avoid violence, but if he perceives a definite threat to himself or his friends, he will not hesitate to let a few arrows fly.
Physical Description
When not in his leather armor, Harken is normally seen in average clothing not uncommon for a ranger: a long, brown leather cloak over a canvas vest, with a gray cotton shirt underneath. His pants are made of black leather, and his boots nearly reach up to his knees (think this: http://img-nex.theonering.net/images/scrapbook/orig/8583_orig.JPG ). His hair is cut short, and his face is clean-shaven when civilization allows a barber. His sharp eyes and facial features belie his gentle nature, showing a young man who has seen and experienced much in his short time. He is not often seen without his faithful wolf companion, Kaliska.
