Jeremy Thane was a boring man. He had a boring career that provided him with a boring amount of money allowing him to live a boring life with his boring wife.
One thing has always been certain in Thaddeus’ mind: his life would be as boring as his father’s.
While in school, he never really fit in with the other “rich” kids. Nothing interesting ever happened! He had to make his own entertainment, quickly perfecting the art of fighting his classmates and claiming the spoils. The teachers would occasionally catch him, but that rarely stopped him for long.
He was striving to be stronger, because the stronger man is always right. He would often steal some of his mother’s jewelry or his father’s expensive clothes and wander in the poor quarters of Risur, just to lure the thieves out and beat them up. He wasn’t doing it for justice, but only because he wanted to fight.
Thaddeus started getting into serious fights. He spent a lot of time roaming the dark alleys of Risur and defeating criminals. He figured the police would leave him alone as long as his targets were also breaking the law. Not to say he was a real vigilante, and he was chased by the the police more than once, but he usually tried to stay out of their way. All was going rather well, until he killed William Mills.
Thaddeus was quite fond of Sandra Mills, old William’s daughter. However, the old man was trying to force her into a marriage with a wealthy merchant, and Thaddeus couldn’t let that happen. So he tried to persuade him like he had persuaded others before. However, William was not a fighter and Thaddeus was quite surprised at how quickly his sword found the old man’s torso. Unable to face Sandra anymore and wanting to avoid jail, he managed to sneak aboard a ship and found himself in Danor.
In Risur, not much is known of his time spent there. But the Danorians who lived in small towns quickly learned to fear the Raider of Danor. Since he had no place to live, he wandered from town to town, taking what he needed and usually leaving quite a mess behind him.
It was there that he learned about what would quickly become his obsession: firearms. Thaddeus had never really trusted magic. It all seemed unnatural to him. Technology however he was quite in love with. He started collecting guns, always keeping one of them easy to draw in case a sudden fight started. That is how he became known as the Devil with Four Guns.
One day, he read something about his family in a newspaper and decided it was time to come home. He boarded a ship, but he didn’t last very long before the police caught him and sent him in jail. One day, someone from the RHC came to visit him in his cell.
“I have heard of you. I know what you can do. We are assembling a team to deal with… special assignments. I can assure you this: their work is anything but boring.”
And so Thaddeus Thane joined the RHC.
