Bio
Daemon was the fifth son born to Caiadis Valcarys the lord of house Valcarys, by the time he was born his noble duties were spoken for by his four older brothers. It was customary for the youngest noble son to take the black and joining the Nights Watch as a service to the realm. He had grown up believing that when he was of age he would goto the Wall. But when Daemon was 14 years old his mother on her death bead made him swear he would never take the black, he swore. Later he found out that his mothers older brother had gone missing on a ranging and she had always feared that he had been tortured to death by the Others. When Daemon turned 16 he did not take the black, instead he spent the next few years exploring Wyvern’s Perch and all its nooks and crannies. It was not uncommon during this time for him to disappear for many days at a time, spending the night out under the stars and living off the land. The day after his 20th birthday he left Wyvern’s Perch leaving a note that said he had grown bored with the island and wanted to see the world.
The first place Daemon would venture to was the Wall, though he had swore never to take the black the promise did not say he couldn’t at least see the wall. When he arrived at Castle Black he was appalled at how neglected the Nights Watch had become. Since he swore not to take the black and he had little coin he decided he could at least make sure they eat better and he could hunt real well. Hunting around the gifts is nye impossible, so Daemon worked out a deal with Stark and Umber for hunting rights in their lands to better feed the Night Watch. He hired a group of woodsmen and began running fresh game to the various castles of the Night’s Watch. He ran this little operation for 5 years until turning it over to one of his underlings for unknown reasons.
Daemon Valcarys spent the next 10 years traveling the major cities of Westeros until he vanished. No longer sending regular letters to House Valcarys it was presumed that Daemon had died. He just was never seen again. Until 30 years later when Daemon Valcarys at the age of 65 showed up at Wyvern’s Perch, drawn out by the trouble experienced by House Valcarys in recent years.
