Bio
Twenty-three years ago Da’ni was born during a lunar eclipse. No one made anything of the coincidence at the time, and not many do now, but Da’ni never misses a chance to bring this up. The few who do remember this event, and have a superstitious bent, believe this is why things seem to go awry around Da’ni.
At the age of ten Da’ni joined the religious order of Mer Shunna after constantly begging his parents. This only last for three years because the clergy were so exasperated by his presence that they sent him off to the University in normal town, thus beginning the passing-off pattern which would define Da’ni’s life.
In University Da’ni’s personality would solidify into what it is today: annoyingly enthusiastic, cloyingly optimistic, and dives in with exasperating regularity and naivete. He even picked up an odd affectation of signing anything he had anything to do with with a design he came up with during a “boring” lecture when he’d rather be out doing something, or “tracking down mysteries.”
Due to a misunderstanding and a fuddled affidavit several merchants were imprisoned during Da’ni’s second year at University. Someone may or may not have died while imprisoned. The official story is murky, mostly ignored and unknown, and best left alone. Move along now.
In his later teenage years, while apprenticing on Venture Street, Da’ni met a young woman of wealthy background named Milara to whom he made several overtures for her attentions, both musically and comedically. To his dismay, Milara was already in a relationship born of economics and politics in which she seemed to be happy, and passed off on Da’ni’s attentions. Unperturbed, Da’ni has kept that love in his heart and hopes one day that he might win Milara’s heart.
The past year saw Da’ni passed off to the City Watch. Da’ni met this new posting with enthusiasm and great plans. He sees that the watch really doesn’t work at solving mysteries or following up on cases beyond the usual keeping the riff-raff in line. Despite it being everywhere and not well or enthusiastically hidden, Da’ni remains largely unaware of the Watch’s corruption and graft. He truly wants to use this position to do good and make a difference, however naively enthusiastic.
