Bio

Background

Tormach is a young man in his late 20s. He is of average height, with a slender yet muscular build. Upon meeting him, one cannot help but get a sense of how dark his personality is. This is only reinforced by his physical appearance and his choice of clothing. His hair is long, and black as coal. His eyes a deep and mysterious, with their own grayish, dark hue. His skin is pale, making it obvious that his business is conducted at night and in the shadows. His wardrobe only adds to the darkness perceived by others. Tormach wears well worn, black leather boots that have seen many miles under them. His usual attire are a mix of black and grey, helping him to vanish into the night. He also wears a black, hooded cloak that is a prized possession. It was given to him by his grandmother, who also taught him the skills of a thief.

Tormach’s comes from a family of merchants. His grandmother, many years ago, made her living as a thief. She was well known to those in the criminal underworld as being able to steal even the most difficult of items. No one is quite sure why she give up being a thief, but rumor within the family is that she somehow crossed the Prince of Shadows. Despite his best efforts, she will not tell Tormach the complete story of her past. When he was a young boy, she noticed a certain level of athleticism in him, and that he was particularly good with his hands. She taught him acrobatics, how to move silently, and bounce between shadows without being noticed. She would provide him with various locks, and let him experiment with them until he could open them with ease. What he could not figure out, she was eager to instruct him in their inner workings.

It was only when he come of age that she confided in him that she was once a thief. She told him that many years ago, she decided to walk away from that life. She chose to become a merchant, investing her ill gotten gains into a family business that she can pass down to her children. When they first began, they traveled as part of a merchant caravan. They traveled for many years, which not only allowed Tormach to see much of the world, but also meet many people and hear their stories and rumors. Recently, the family decided to set up a permanent shop in a larger village that they frequently traveled to. He and his family made enough money to provide for their needs, but Tormach wanted more. He grew tired of seeing the same people every day, and not finding the same sense of adventure that he had experienced on the road. He wanted to have nice things in his life, but what he mostly wanted was a challenge.. Upon telling his grandmother this, she told him to use the skills she taught him and find the challenge he so desperately wants. With her blessing, he said goodbye to his family, and set off to make his own way in the world.
