Born in luxury, Julian had everything he could have ever wanted. At 18 he was a prodigy sent off to become a lawyer like his father and his father before him. While in transit he was captured by a group of pirates and taken prisoner. During a large thunderstorm the captain and several of the crew were tossed overboard and the ship was thrown into a hostile land. The ship lost, leaderless, and surrounded by enemies Julian showed a skill for reading maps and navigation. He provided the bearings that led the ship into free space and saved the remaining crew.
Barkley, the head bosun, recognized Julian’s skill and made him captain. Julian who had never tasted freedom his entire life took to piracy very well. They have sailed together ever since.
