The Sins of the Father
Erevan

Description

Bio

The city-state of Soulestrasz is one of the most legendary Eladrin states in Feywild. As with most Eladrin cities, it’s elegance, both in engineering and design, is beyond comparison to anything seen in the mortal realms. What distinguishes this state from others in Feywild, however, is the strength of military force.

Traditionally, Eladrin are artisans of song, dance, magic—common forms of beauty and grace seen in most civilizations. The areas surrounding Soulestraz, however, house some of the more powerful and primal beings in Feywild. In order to survive, the Soulestrans had to become artisans of a different sort: artisans of war.

Over the last several millennia, Soulestrasz became one of the most powerful military forces in Feywild, defending their city-state from a never-ending stream of assaults from the violent beings in the surrounding areas. Due to this state of affairs, military dynasties were common in Soulestran society. One such dynasty is that of High Commander Aramil.

Over 80 years ago, Aramil and his wife conceived a son named Erevan. Though the conception, pregnancy and birth were all normal, the boy was born most frail, the doctor having accidentally broken Erevan’s arm at his time of birth. Medicinal magic was able to heal this without any future ramifications, but this was a major concern to the doctors. He feared the boy would not live to see his 10th birthday. Aramil, despite the doctor’s concerns, was confident in his son’s will to live. This confidence was met, and soon surpassed, by Erevan.

In terms of intellect, he far exceeded that of most other Eladrin of his age. As he outpaced all of the other children in education, and was learning advanced history, magic, and science by age 12. Even with his frail body, Erevan showed a trait that his father considered his greatest strength: his unfailing drive to push forward.

At age 30, Erevan had completed studies with most accomplished scholars in Soulestrasz. Erevan began despairing, as he felt he had nothing left to push forward through; nothing left to learn, or understand, or study. Aramil disagreed with this behavior and presented Erevan with what he called the most important challenge of Erevan’s life: to become an Erevan Soldier.

Erevan knew that, for all intents and purposes, this was impossible; his frail body could never live up to the strenuous training required to accomplish this. The word “impossible” though a word that was not in Erevan’s dictionary. For the next 40 years, Erevan took every once of intellect and knowledge he had, and applied it toward not simply overcoming his frailty, but rather removing it from the equation entirely. In this time, Erevan was able to succeed even beyond what his father had dreamed of: Erevan became one of the strongest Eladrin to ever complete Eladrin Soldier training, graduating 1st in his class after serving in the toughest platoon in the Soulestran Military Academy.

Given this accomplishment, Aramil sent for a graduation gift for his son: a Greatspear of the finest design and craftsmanship. While Soulestrasz was a military capital of Feywild, their best weapon artisans were still second to those in Konoshina, another military state whose artisans were almost fully dedicated to the creation of weaponry. His father would not accept for anything but the absolute best for this son, so he commission the gift from the top spearsmith of Konoshina.

Unfortunately, after sending for the spear, Konoshina experienced a Worldfall event that happens only once every 100 years; in order to get the Greatspear, someone would have to travel to Konoshina in the mortal realm to get it. Aramil saw this as an opportunity to let Erevan to see beyond the gates of Soulestrasz (something few Eladrin ever saw). He arranged passag for Erevan through the Soulestran fey crossing, as well as a return key. Erevan, overjoyed by this new adventure, thanked his father endlessly until the moment he walked through the crossing into the mortal realm.

Getting to Konoshina proved to be a simple task to Erevan. Once there, he quickly made contact with the Artisan, who awarded the Greatspear to him. This spear was the most advanced design created by the Konoshina, using a combination of the strongest, densest materials available in the known realms and the most powerful enhancing magic. This polearm was nigh indestructible and had the power to absorb that which could make it stronger. Erevan quickly set off with his new weapon back to Soulestrasz.

A turn of events however made this a difficult proposition…

(Insert the Campaign prologue here.)

Personality: While not as charismatic as some of his brethren, Erevan was able to befriend other beings quickly due his studies in anthropological and behavioral sciences. This knowledge allows him to seem more empathic about his personality, though in reality, he is exercising his logical thinking processes to achieve more personable interaction. (Think Sai from Naruto when he tries to be friendly with Naruto and Sakura, but actually executing the social exchanges successfully instead of how Sai seems to fail miserably.) Erevan also shows a lot of patience, as he has learned from his tactical and strategic studies. He’s not as perceptive as one might expect, but he is quick on his feet and can react to almost any situation in the best possible manner. And like other Eladrin, he is fearlessly loyal to allies who are also loyal to him, and will defend them with his own life in an instant.
