Farouk, a mans man, a full 5’7 and 250lbs of swagger. Gold Chains, big rings, and a fresh yet outdated suit, Farouk is a charmer and suspiciously popular with ladies! If Farouk has a weakness its his love of gambling. A true master of the odds, Farouk’s skill at the game has only fueled his overconfidence. Farouk is never without a deck of cards, a set of dice and willingness to place a wager.
Just a ruby he tells me… whatever… Never trust a halfling with a smile, with their big eyes they lie as good as any broad I’ve met… Just stare at their feet. That will sober you up right quick, wish I had thought of that earlier… Thanks to that fat footed flake of a footpad; AND you do know the bigger their feet the bigger their lies! I’m being tortured by riding this mangy, broke back donkey into this back water town hoping to make a quick buck to save my skin. The great Farouk! Broke…Like I said bub, never trust a Halfling…
Raised on the streets, the young orphan Ruuk quickly learned the value of a smile and a scam. Blessed with natural talents, charm and intelligence it did not take long before Ruuk was noticed by those that could appreciate his unique gifts. Ruuk became the apprentice of Balan. A respected Guild Mage, Balan made a substantial living, buying selling and providing special services to clients that would otherwise prefer to remain anonymous. Master Balan shared a kinship with Ruuk and taught him the ways of magic, of underworld etiquette and closing the sale. For the first time, Ruuk felt like he finally belonged to something… He was good at this!
Years passed and Master Balan would eventually grow ill and succumb to a wasting disease. Alchemical work was often hard on one’s body and the master was no exception. Ruuk inherited the storefront, his master’s ring and seal and continued on with the “family” business.
Business was good oh so very good. The great Ruuk grew overconfident taking deal after deal. Dripping with gold, gems, and good times what could possibly go wrong? A halfing, a ruby, and an angry assassin’s guild, that’s what could go wrong….
The storefront burned bright that night, the alchemical mixtures fueling the noxious flames burning everything to ash except for a charred stump of a hand still wearing the masters ring. Ruuk was gone. And from those ashes Farouk was born.
Farouk should have known better, nothing lasts forever. Spending what remained of his substantial wealth, Farouk bought silence and passage to a faraway land, leaving his old world behind Farouk would dare once again to find a place to call home, and his true self.
“Find the Fat Man and you find Farouk” – When in Frontier Farouk spends most of his free time gambling on the Islands of River Tree. This seems to be “Neutral” ground and its fun there. Farouk favors The Hell-hound’s Hall and is becoming quite the regular.
