Bio
Whitrick grew up in Konigsberg with his two warrior brothers, Sarus and Stilicho. His father, Alaric, tried to groom his sons so they would be prepared for the oldest to take over the throne of Konigsberg, as had been done for generations, with one of them on the throne and the others supporting their kin. However, Whitrick had the slender look and build of his mother, and did not have the fortitude of a warrior. He did however possess great intelligence, and though was weak physically, he was quickly recognized for his sharp wits.
Alaric’s friend and household wizard, Malikeos took Whitrick in as his apprentice. Shortly after the suspicious death of his brother, Sarus, Whitrick was shipped off to Travar to study with Malikeos’ wizard order while his brother Stilicho took Sarus’s place at his fathers side. It was not long after this happened when Alaric, Stilicho and a contingent of their household troops were amubushed in the outlands after a great betrayal by thier uncle Elfric. Alaric perished, while Stilicho was missing. After Elfic had taken the throne, Malikeos learned of the betrayal of Elfric and left for Travar where he and his order could keep Whitrick safe from Elfric’s assassins. After arriving in Travar, and securing Whitrick, Malikeos left to see if he could find the missing Stilicho.
It was in Travar where Whitrick honed his skills as a wizard, and started dabbling in the arts of illusion. Prior to the death of this father, Whitrick was already a great pupil, having rose through the ranks of the order at a record pace. Though he was already an exceptional student, he became especially motivated to find his lost brother and seek revenge on his trecherous uncle.
Malikeos returned, bringing welcome news that his brother Stilicho was safe with the Stoneclaw clan in a place called The Reach. Over the months, bits of news trickled into Travar, some of it hard to believe. Rumor was that the Reach had been attacked by Theran vessels, and that Stilicho had left with a group of name-givers known as “The Unchained”. After they left, Stilicho captained an airship that lead an attack that resulted in the destruction of two Theran vedettes over Lake Pyros. He then arrived in Throal where he and his companions delivered the long lost Book of Tomorrow to the king of Throal. Some of this Whitrick attributed to embellishment by storytellers, but his brother was making a name for himself. He worried for his brother’s saftey, for though it was good that the men of Konigsberg knew their true leader lived, Elfric would know it too, and seek to put an end to him.
