Born in Berlin in the 1920’s her parents were active communist party members. During the Weimar republic they were involved in the various protest movements and attempts to establish a communist state in Germany. They helped distribute Die Rote Fahne during the terror of the Deutsh Reich years. Growing up during such turbullant times taught Freda two things, stand up for what you believe in and sometimes the wolf who acts like a sheep survives. Her growing resentment of the prevailing culture was shared by fellow students, leading to the establishment of Kommune 1 before her untimely death in 1965.
