This section can be used for several things.

Brief Description: This should be short, like “Visitor from the future who accidentally killed his own great-grandfather, and must take on his identity to preserve the future.” It just gives the bare essentials, like the description of Grolfnar Vainsson on the first page of the Risus rules.

Sidekicks and Shieldmates are a character creation option from the Risus Companion.

The current Captain Exemplar, Marcus Manleigh, is actually the great-grandson of the first Captain Exemplar, Michael Manleigh. He travelled back from the future to meet his ancestor, only to accidentally cause his death. To preserve his future, he masqueraded as his own ancestor. He keeps this secret even from Example Boy, Maurice Manleigh, the son aof the original Captain Exemplar. Despite being from the future, and his interest in history, Marcus has only a cursory acquaintance with the hisory and culture of the early 21st century, which often threatens to expose his true identity, especially to his “son”. In fact, Marcus was forced to recruit the young Maurice as his sidekick when the boy accidentally discovered his “father’s” secret identity. What impact this may or may not have had on the future remains to be seen. Another futuristic paradox is his relationship to Maurice’s mother, Margaret Manleigh—Mrs. Michael Manleigh, who is Maurice’s mother, and Marcus’ own great-grandmother, and mother-to-be of a future President of the United States who has not yet been conceived!
