A New Beginning

Dallas, Texas, is a true American crossroads. I know it’s usually not thought about in that way, but hear me out. It lies at a major crossroads of physical Interstates 20, 30, 35E, and 45, with 635 looping around and a smaller loop inside the city. On top of that, you have high finance, technology, pharmaceuticals, and the third-highest concentration of Fortune 500 companies in the country.

Add to that the number of immigrants who come through the city, legal and otherwise. The mixing of worlds at a crossroads bound in a circle makes Dallas a particularly powerful place for magic. That magic has begun to attract some interesting elements.

Domestic abuse, new gangs of thieves, and young women going missing are the tip of the iceberg. Sheriff Doug Powell (also a knight of the Winter Court and the enforcer of the amended Seelie Accords) has been murdered, throwing the city’s mystical factions into chaos and ensnaring a band of would-be heroes. It sure is an interesting time to be in “The Big D.”

This is a longer-term campaign for a face-to-face role-playing group in the Boston area. It will be run as a set of miniseries, connected modern supernatural scenarios. We’re using the FATE 3e Dresden Files role-playing game at the “submerged” power level.
