Bio

Back Story Omatio was born to an orcish woman that had been taken from her tribe by Tuigan horse barbarians, of the step lands, and forced into slavery. As happens with slaves, one of the horse warriors had his way with his mother, and kept her as a servant for his other wives. His mother was forced to follow the migrations of the horse barbarians, until one day the tribe was raided by a stronger tribe and all where either slain or enslaved. Omatio was only 2 years old at the time, but was as big as some 4 year olds. He was captured with a few other small children, and was found hitting, biting, kicking and throwing rocks at the invaders trying to snatch him and his little friends out of the tall grasses they had hid in. Because of his size and ferocity the evil warlord leading the larger tribes’ warriors deemed he had the potential to become a valuable fighting slave, and therefore claimed him as a trophy. Soon Omatio found himself in the slave pens of the warlord’s personnel collection. As Omatio was as big as a child twice his age the slave master’s trainer deemed that if Omatio was given a set of special tasks, and exercises to be completed each day, along with a special diet that his body and mind would be ready for the intensive training required to create a thoroughbred gladiatorial sumotio. Omatio had been considered just slightly above a cur dog in his life with his mother, as the child of an inhuman slave, so he found his new living conditions and diet to be a welcome blessing despite the absence of his mother. Omatio grew quickly putting on great weight and muscle under his training program. When his combat training commenced, he learned quickly and by the time he was 12, he was soon winning fight after fight, and progressed to the more profitable death matches. He was secretly taught to venerate The Raven Queen by the other slave fighters and his trainers, As his trainer said, “Every time you enter the arena either you or your opponent are going to meet the Raven Queen, so it is important that you deliver her blessing as quickly as possible and be prepared to receive it with courage and honour”. Over a few years Omatoi’s many victories earned his master a fortune, but despite his surviving longer than the other fighters, his master refused to release him, out of greed. Eventually though his master fell into debt, and gifted Omatio to a Drow emissary to help keep his debt from turning into blood debt. The drow took Omatio into the underdark, where he continued to enter Omatio into pit fights and arena matches in the dark vast expanses of the underdark, and its’ cities and settlements therein. Omatio continued to win matches, and was earning a fortune for his new master, and a reputation as dangerous gladiator, with his great size and strength. His new master eventually gave him the moniker “The City Block”, because his master compared Omatio fighting a foe to having a city block fall on them. Omatio’s reputation as a fighter grew to the point, that a rival of his master, who had placed a great wager on a fight between Omatio and one of his slave fighters, had Omatio poisoned in his cell before a fight, in order to influence the fight in his favour. This rival also gave his slave an enchanted weapon that would steal a part of Omatio’s soul with a successful strike, instantaneously killing him. Omatio remembers the dagger slicing him above the shoulder, and then finding himself standing as semitransparent figure before the Raven Queen, beside a much smaller bowed creature (Meepokhan). Omatio remembers The Raven Queen welcoming him to her realm, and saying unto him “You have sent many souls, willing and unwilling to me and have been a devoted follower, and yet I am unable to properly reward your service, as your soul has been torn in twain. The part that has made it here to me and that part that is trapped in an artefact, and as a result you may not remain in my realm while your soul is incomplete. But I may grant you a chance to retrieve the missing part of your sundered soul, while continuing to serve me in the process and a chance at a life with some freedom. I can send you back to the realm of the living, but to do so I must use the soul of another to mend your torn soul and restore you to life. This unfortunate soul kneeling beside you, has agreed to serve me, buy offering the use of its soul to mend yours and regain a chance of life through you”. Then you and the other you remember being gathered in the Raven Queen’s arms and being embraced by, kissed on the forehead, and then awaking in one of the mass burial pits for slaves outside the city. Step 1: Write 5 background and concept elements that you feel are important to your image of the character. These can be a concept overview, a list of important life events, a physical description, and a personality profile…whatever you need to get an image in your mind. 5 is just a minimum…more elements are encouraged! 1. Omatio is 6’8”’ tall and weights in at 625 lbs, which is monstrously huge for any normal humanoid. Omatio was captured in the far eastern step lands, by an evil warlord as a toddler, and sent to his slave pens. Even as a toddler he was slightly bigger than his human compatriots. 2. Because of his size and temperament at such a young age, the warlord deemed he would be suitable for training as one of his slave prize fighters. So he was fed a special diet, and given a special regime of tasks to complete each day. This regime was designed to prepare Omatio and his body for the training to become a gladiatorial sumotoi wrestler. Omatio excelled at this training and soon grew to his immense size and strength. By the time Omatio was 15 he was considered a rising champion of the sumatio pits, and was earning his master a considerable amount of wealth in his fights. Eventually his master gifted him to a Drow emissary, who brought him into the underdark, entering him into various fights, and gladiatorial combats in each underdark city they travelled through. His new Drow master gave him the nick name of “City Block” as a humorous reference to his great size and strength and ability to win fights. 3. Omatio was driven to earn his freedom, improve himself by becoming more powerful and yearns to be become a legend, spoken of with awe and admiration. 4. He eventually earned a reputation as a nearly uneatable fighter in the arenas, and was poisoned by a rival of his master, who had placed a large wager on his next fight, and wanted to guarantee Omatio’s defeat. His master’s rival arranged to have a poisoned meal delivered to Omatio’s cell before the fight, this poisoned sapped and severely slowed Omatio’s defences, so that his master’s rival’s fighter was able to stab him with a enchanted blade that severed part of his soul from his body and killed him. But since he had always secretly venerated the Raven Queen and had delivered many souls to her in the arenas and fighting pits, she granted him a boon that if he accepted a part of the soul of another of her servants, he would continue to live and serve her. So the missing part of his soul was replaced with Meepokhan’s battered soul. 5. Thus Omatio arose from the slave burial pits, with glimpses and odd memories of another beings life, and the drive to defeat the Raven Queen’s enemies and do her bidding. Step 2: List at least two goals for the character. At least one of these goals should be one that the character has, while another should be one that you, as a player, want to see developed over the course of the game. 1. Omatio wants to personally defeat as many foes as possible, and send their souls to his mistress (The Raven Queen), and become a living or dead legend in the process, before The Raven Queen reclaims his souls. Every time he kills a foe, he shouts “Feel the Kiss and blessed embrace of the Raven Queen”. 2. Omatio has a zealous rage against Orcis, Tiamet and their followers, and the other enemies of the Raven Queen. 3.. He desires to reclaim the missing part of his soul, so that he will feel hole and be able to go to his mistresses side when his time comes. Step 3: List at least two secrets about your character. One is a secret the character knows, one is a secret that involves him but that he is not actually aware of yet. This will help me in creating plots that center around your character. I will also be creating a third secret which you as a player will not be aware of, so expect some surprises! 1. He is the combined reincarnated spirit of Meepokhan and Omatio. 2. The dagger artifact that contains the missing torn shred of Omatio’s soul has been moved to the possession of one the dragonlords, hidden in its horde, for use in a dark ritual. Step 4: Describe at least three people that are tied to the character. Two of them are friendly to the character, one is hostile.
