Changes to the Rules

It’s time for some changes to the rules.

I’ve appreciated everyone’s consideration in following my ethereal version of the rules from 3.x back to BECMI (Basic, Expert, Companion, Master, Immortal). After consideration of my own of our gameplay, I have decided to allow players to now Take 10 and Take 20 as per the v3 rules. Please keep in mind how much more time it will consume to Take 20. This will eat away at your spell durations.

Pathfinder?

I’ve been reading the Pathfinder rules set. Pathfinder is the open source version of D&D that follows 3.5. It is different from 4e in that it did not completely divurge from the known rule set. It is what I consider 4th edition D&D and is actually closer to my rules than even 3.×.

What would everyone think about converting to Pathfinder? We would almost completely be adhering to these rules with very little deviation. Magic construction would still be an art like it is now, and XP progression is still under consideration, but otherwise, we’d use Pathfinder rules. This would require each of you to purchase the Pathfinder core book and read it.

Let me know. Thanks!

I approve the move over to Pathfinder, and would be willing to purchase a book. However, I propose that if we cannot unanimusly to convert than we should not switch over- I wouldn’t want anyone to be unable to play with us because they did not wish to convert to Pathfinder. If anyone would like a more detailed overview of the sorts of changes we would see with Pathfinder, I’m willing to speak to them about it.

I would be willing to switch over to Pathfinder. A friend has the book so I’ve looked at it briefly. I would just need the core rule book correct? I could get that easily from amazon.

I am ok with Pathfinder if that is the direction we want to go. My understanding is that the rules are easier to understand and use with the Pathfinder system.
