Bio

Kurgar is the last living member of the Mourngrim Mercenary 8th Cohort, a House Kundarak mercenary platoon that was seconded to House Deneith as part of the Kundarak/Deneith Trade Agreements in 774YK; providing banking services for House Deneith and training for the combat units of House Kundarak. Assigned to the cohort as a basic infantry clansman, Kurgar saw the service as a way to honor the Mourngrim Clan and serve House Kundarak.

Assigned to combat patrols in the northern reaches of the Shadow Marches, the 8th Cohort was patrolling close to a manifest zone and was caught in a Xoriat incursion. Suffering heavy casualties, the 8th began pulling back toward Zarash’ak, but before the cohort could reach the safety of any settlement, various Hobgoblin tribes of Dhakaani fundamentalists attacked and killed all of the 8th Cohort save Kurgar who was thought to be dead, but was merely knocked unconscious with a severe looking, but relatively harmless, head wound.

Upon regaining consciousness (and finding himself stripped of all weapons, equipment, and wealth), Kurgar stumbled his way to Zarash’ak to report the loss of the cohort. Upon receiving his report, House Kundarak provided compensation for his recuperation and time in service, and then callously informed him that “…the House no longer requires your services.”

Stranded in the Shadow Marches, Kurgar has taken small guard and protection jobs around Zarash’ak. Though he is generally thought to be a particularly unlikable individual, Kurgar has gained a reputation as a competent and tough warrior who honors his mercenary contracts to the end. Most recently, he’s worked with the half-orc mercenary broker: Hakak Gkrar, usually found at The Broken Stilt tavern.
