Fast-forward
hey, this idea came up last night…
What do you guys think of a fast-forward, where we we advance our timeline by 20 years, explain the new size of the kingdom, and have the option to play our characters as older people, or to play their descendants.
We could keep the families we have now, or mix and match. For example, Rudy’s next character could be the son of Duke Yorick.
(I admit, the idea comes from game of thrones, but it’s still a good idea)
Upon reflection . . .
I do love the idea of jumping ahead, and I think it would be fun to swap bloodlines. But I’m not ready to let go of Yorick just yet. The Black Duke (!) has plans for Narlmarch.
However, the idea is too good to pass up so I suggest the following:
a) We plan on doing this once we’ve completed the Kingmaker AP, either as a whole new campaign or semi-regular one-offs in a world we will have spent much time defining.
b) We do an alternate adventure thing like the X-Men’s “Days of Future Past” where our enemies manage to rewrite the timeline (maybe by making the Council evil or something) and our children have to set things back on track . . . essentially a one shot or short run game before continuing on with the AP.
or
c) The party you play in Legacy of Fire contains some offspring of the Council. I love the idea of tying the campaigns we play together.
Actually, now that I think of it some people have mixed the kingdom building rules in the LoF AP calling it Sultanmaker.
