Kingdom building
Hey all,
I’m having a good time with the kingdom building rules, but if we’re only playing monthly, I’d rather play. So, how do we keep the fun of kingdom building without sacrificing game time?
I thought we could use the blog for this, but as it turns out, it’s not working that well. Building consensus among five people is hard, especially when we all have jobs and families and other stuff. As soon as one person is busy, everyone has to wait. And without deadlines, waiting quickly becomes paralysis.
So, here’s my new idea: We split the same year among us, and everyone builds for three months. That way, we just have to coordinate with John, and hopefully we can move faster. We need to decide on an order, and that’s it. Unless I hear a different idea, I’ll suggest alphabetical order, Chris, Derek, Eric, Rudy.
In game, we leave it all the same, Yorick is e Baron and all that. This is just an out of game decision, how do we give every person 25% of the decision-making? This is one way, and I think it will work better.
Rudy I’m spotty at best at even getting on the net everyday I apologize for that I would have to work in pairs with someone or let someone take the lead on my shift cause when it comes to that aspect of the game I’m clueless I just listen to what you guys are saying and try to through in my two cents.

But that’s the point. If it’s just you and John making decisions for three game months, you can call him on the phone, or drive to his place, and you can work it all out directly.
Ok I’m game for it

Your criticism of the online pace is spot on. But I worry about splitting it up the way you suggest. Buy maybe my worry is unwarranted . . .
I’ve been assuming that the kingdom building will have an effect on our success in the AP at some point, and I suspect a foreign invasion/attack is brewing. And so I worry that splitting it up the way you suggest will have us going in different directions and lead to a less than optimized kingdom.
I would rather appoint someone (or someones) to just be in charge of the building. That person can solicit suggestions when needed/if wanted and then present John with the building plan. If a player who isn’t in charge has an idea or wants a specific thing, they can send that to our ‘builder’. If a player has a problem with the building plan, then we can discuss it as a group.
Maybe the builder can send out the monthly build plan. If anyone has any objections or suggestions, they can respond. If not, say nothing. And the builder shouldn’t have to wait around for a response. If he doesn’t hear anything quickly, then he should post.
I’m happy to let Rudy or Eric or Rudy and Eric be the builders. I don’t have a great handle on the build rules and I trust both of you.
That’s assuming it wouldn’t be a burden on either of you and that one or both of you would want to do it. If nobody wanted to do it but we like the plan, I could read up on the rules and be the builder myself.
That’s basically what’s going on know they just wouldn’t have to wait for confirmation from us I’m comfortable with that

I don’t mind building at all. I kind of like working on it, actually. I would assume that you plural would all want me to run expensive purchases like a 100BP flying castle past you. Also, if I or Rudy and I do this, I think it would be a good idea for everyone to send me a “wish list” of buildings or shrines or hexes or whatever.
I’d love a flying castle!
And I think you should run with it, Eric.
Slade’s wish list
- claim the lake hexes
- shrine to Abadar
- build all of the shops needed to produce military units
- create a village at the crossing
I second the lake hexes. We need a monument to the Four River Freedoms. And I think expanding eastward across the planes would also be good, but I bow to the will of the group.
And I want a flying castle too.
