Langha Island Campaign
This is a fantasy RPG Campaign using a modified version of the AD&D 2.0 rules. The Campaign will be played in Warwick, most likely here :- Warwick Gaming Club
Variant Rules
I’m using a number of Variant Rules, to overcome a number of issues which I see with the standard rules. These rules are designed to work together.
Hit Points
First off the Hit Points system makes the average Wizard, and even a Fighter, far too vulnerable. Even using the maximum hit points at first level rule. Later, high level characters have a lot more HP, which may be too high in some ways. Monster HP are problematical in their own way, especially for ‘higher HD’ monsters. My solution is here: HP
Non-Adventurers
The whole game system is obviously slewed in favour of adventurers. I’d prefer a little better balance, and to make more use of non-Adventurer levels for all. My solution is here: Non-Adventurers
Backgrounds
Each player will get to pick, or be assigned, a number of Background options.
Experience
Experience will be earned from a wider range of activity; including training and performing a non-adventurer job role.
Non-Weapon Proficiency/Skills
AD&D has a host of Non-Weapon Proficiencies [over 70] so instead I am using the DnD 3.5 skill list [or Pathfinder – i.e about half as many]. By using a more generalized skill list the game should be faster to play!
Starting Experience
Characters may, due to age and backgrounds, begin with more than 0 Experience. Actually, given that I’m starting Level 1 at 5,000 XP they will need at least 5,000 XP to be Level 1!
In fact starting characters will generally have achieved level 1!
